Christine Donaldson Psychotherapy
Therapy for Depression

When life keeps moving and something in you has gone quiet.

Support for adults carrying heaviness, numbness, or a loss of color in a life that looks fine from the outside.

Depression has many shapes

It does not always look like sadness.

The heaviness

Getting through the day takes everything, and there is little left over for the parts of life you used to enjoy.

The flatness

Nothing is exactly wrong. Nothing feels like much of anything either.

The high-functioning kind

You keep performing at work and showing up for people, then come home with nothing left.

The self-criticism

A voice that reads your tiredness as laziness and your struggle as proof of something wrong with you.

How I think about it

Depression is often a signal, not a defect.

Numbness can be what happens when feeling has been too much for too long. Low motivation can follow years of pushing past your own limits. Grief, loneliness, unlived creativity, and unspoken anger all have ways of settling into the body as heaviness.

Rather than rushing to make the feeling go away, we listen to what it has been protecting or carrying—while also attending to the practical: sleep, movement, connection, and the small daily footholds that make the days more livable.

In our work

Company for the part of you that has been alone with this.

We go at a pace that respects how much energy you have. Some sessions are about meaning and history; others are about getting through the week.

If medication, psychiatric care, or additional support would be useful, I will say so and help you think it through. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 for immediate support.
